What do you look for in a president of America?

Do you look for good politics and cheap gas prices and solutions to stop global warming. or what. Cause i am a thinking about voting but i think i am stuc btween john edwards and "whateva ya call him 'bama". Defenty democratic party& Not hil clintstone from the dum dum ages. But really,...do you know any good politics that I should look for/ strategys of them?
