Contrast Ratio on HDTVs?

if you are using if for bluray and hddvd then you need to get a 1080p set of you are wasting money on those hidef players... you wont get the full effect of the blluray without a 1080p set. not sure of the prices but i have a 1080p samsung lcd with 10000:1 contrast ratio and itll run you about 1600 i think.
