What is this sound my computer keeps making?

The last few days now Ive noticed a that a few times my computer started making a strange sound when i wasn't even on it. Kinda sounded like when a freezer is defrosting. Never noticed this before. Not sure, but screen may have been on facebook when it was doing this. What is this sound????
